Reflections on Ceramic Wales

Updated: Jan 2, 2023

1. A kind supportive group makes for a happy experience.

2. Don't expect glazing and firing to go to plan build in time to reglaze

3. Time has now passed for trying new things, need to focus on making for the show

4. Need to make bigger stuff

5. Glazes need to be layered, opaque and transparent, over slips and oxides, basically - more complex

6. It was a bad idea to waste time reproducing the free form street for Wales, especially as I couldn't show it. I should have just moved on to make the next pieces in my project.

7. Ceramic Wales took a lot of time out of my MA, at least a month.

8. Feedback was good on skills - porcelain slabs building, glaze colours and glaze application.

9. The exhibiting artists were very generous and welcoming
