Now that I have moved along Oxford Road to the city centre, in terms of both distance and 'history', I am in familiar territory amongst the mixed architecture.
I have several black and white glazes, some shiny and others satin matte , some with textures and some without. I intend to layer these over slips and oxides. I have made some test tiles layering slips and glazes, and have come up with the following combinations. I have used white stoneware here so the sgrafitto has created cream coloured lines.
I have overlaid slips, oxides and glazes already, but intend to develop this further based on these test results. The pieces I am making at the moment are on white and black stoneware, so the sgrafitto lines could be black or white.
I like these just as tiles, perhaps I could try making some larger ones in the future.
